The New Procurement Environment: an Essential Guide for Non-Procurement Specialists.

What is this workshop about?

Effective procurement is a major contributor to the efficiency of the social housing sector (Gershon: Releasing Resources to the Front Line, July 2004) and also a major contributor to Value for Money (Audit Commission - KLOE 32). These economic and political drivers, plus the impact of the EU Procurement Directive, have significantly changed the way that RSLs procure goods and services.

This workshop will provide an essential guide to the new procurement environment, the impact that this has on procurement practice and how it will affect your role.

This workshop will provide you with all you need to know about:

  • The political and economic factors that are driving changes in procurement practice in social housing
  • How the Annual Efficiency Statement shows how value for money has been achieved through effective procurement
  • The basic principles of effective procurement
  • The changing face of procurement practice, and
  • The impact that EU Legislation has had on procurement practice.

Who will benefit from this workshop?

This workshop is designed for all housing professionals who are responsible for regular purchases, and therefore need to be aware of the changing face of procurement and how it will impact on their working practices.
