Housing sector to make major savings on telecoms procurement
Procurement for Housing has launched a new telecommunications agreement which will create significant savings for social landlords on the procurement of calls, lines, data and unified communications as well as mobile communication, training and consultancy.
Three housing consortia create 'social value' buying alliance
A new procurement alliance which will generate social outcomes as well as cost savings for over 1,000 social landlords is being set up by Fusion21, the Northern Housing Consortium and Procurement for Housing.
The new alliance aims to overcome the duplication and complexity created by the range of consortia options available to the housing sector. It will also link procurement spend to wider community benefits such as job creation, training for disadvantaged groups and supporting local SME suppliers.

Working in Partnership
Procurement for Housing (PfH) is a national procurement organisation dedicated to social housing groups. It provides a procurement solution for over 700 UK social housing providers, managing the supply of over £1.5m of goods and services every week. Northgate is the only vehicle hire company represented on the framework and it has recently secured an agreement to have short term rental rates displayed to members on the PfH website.

Realistic retrofitting
A recent survey of 134 housing providers, conducted by Fusion21 and Procurement for housing, found that 27% of social landlords saw sustainable retrofit as the biggest challenge facing the social housing housing sector, prioritsing it above risks posed by the general economic downturn, reduced development programmes and housing benefit cuts.
