PfH welcomes two new appointments to the PfH Advisory Committee.

24th August, 2010

PfH welcomes both Steve Coffey, Chief Executive for Liverpool Mutual Homes (LMH) as the new Chair of the PfH Advisory Committee and Steve Everitt, Group Procurement Manager from Contour Housing as a new Advisory Committee member.

Steve Coffey

Steve Coffey has 20 years of experience in the social housing sector and has worked at several associations in the West Midlands and on Merseyside. He replaces Brian Cronin, who was also from Liverpool, when he takes up his role in August.  Currently, Steve leads LMH in ensuring improvement programmes are delivered and service provision meets the highest standards. He is also passionate about creating thriving neighbourhoods.  Steve will join the Housemark Board as a special advisor regarding procurement matters and will combine this role with chairing the PfH Advisory Committee.  He will act as leader and ambassador for the Advisory Committee and help to develop the wider potential of PfH in providing the housing sector with a leading edge procurement consortium to deliver efficiency savings and value for money. He will use his undoubted expertise to support and challenge the work that PfH delivers.

In accepting the invitation Steve said, ‘I am delighted to accept the invitation to join the Housemark Board as a special advisor and chair the PfH Advisory Committee.  In this period of Fiscal Retrenchment procuring wisely and achieving value for money is even more important.  I am sure that PfH will continue to deliver tangible benefits for customers but we will also look to make improvements across all areas for the benefit of our customers’.

Steve Everitt (MCIPS)

Having worked in purchasing and supply in private sector pharmaceutical manufacturing for over 10 years, a career move to Manchester City Council led Steve Everitt to develop a keen interest in raising the profile of procurement as a service within the public sector over the next 5 years.

After a short spell at the University of Manchester to develop the procurement strategy during the merger of the two former Manchester Universities, Steve spent the next couple of years as a Senior Consultant with leading consultancy Turner & Townsend, working on a wide range of public and private sector projects, including social housing.

During this period Steve began to understand the challenges facing the social housing sector and took the opportunity to take up a new role at Contour Housing Group as Group Procurement Manager in 2007.  Having developed a new Procurement Strategy/Policy and setting up a Procurement Steering Group involving tenants, Contour Housing are now pushing ahead with VfM reviews and benchmarking of services.

Both Steve Coffey and Steve Everitt will play a critical role in helping to make PfH the best procurement consortium within the sector by  informing PfH of key sector attributes to enable PfH to provide services that meet the needs of the sector.

Do you want to play a critical role in shaping procurement for the UK social housing sector?

Like Steve Coffey and Steve Everitt, you can influence procurement for the social housing sector. PfH are looking for an additional two new Advisory Committee Members to lead the consortium on to even greater success, and drive the strategy, professionalism and innovation that will create long-term efficiencies.

Membership is based on a three year term with Members then being nominated to the existing committee for re-election if they choose.  The successful nominees will be announced at the PfH Annual Conference taking place on 7th October at Manchester Central Convention Centre. Click here for more information.
