CDP delivers VfM for NewGen Group
19th April, 2010
Using the PfH Print Management Framework Agreement, the NewGen Group have awarded CDP the contract to supply all of their print, Tenant Newsletters, and Rent Statement mailings.
“The Group’s aim was not just to reduce costs” explains Tim Fitzgerald, CDP Business Development Director. “NewGen needed a supplier who thoroughly understood the housing sector, would respond to problems with constructive solutions, but also could relate to tenants concerns by having a very positive effect on the environment through using local suppliers to reduce their carbon footprint and keep jobs in the community”.
As a major social housing group in the North West, the NewGen Group wanted a supplier who could deliver realistic and sustainable cost savings, but also answer the concerns about local employment issues and environmental requirements that would satisfy their tenants and also the TSA.
“VfM was at the forefront, but VfM doesn’t mean just lower costs” explains Tim. “It meant that we had to take into account the whole life cycle of print – from design to delivery, the use of FSC sustainable materials, low impact print processes, and a web ordering system that reduced paperwork but severely increased efficiencies”.
“It was a tall order, but as we have been delivering similar solutions to the social housing sector for a long time we believed that we had the answers to their requirements”.
The result was that the NewGen Group achieved their aims to reduce costs, streamline print procurement, maintain an environmental approach to business, and ensure that they were meeting both their tenants and the TSA’s VfM requirements.
“For the NewGen Group we conducted the CDP Health Check” explains Matt Riordan, CDP Key Account Manager. “In the Health Check we investigate every aspect of a clients print procurement processes, and from this provide a White Paper that outlines our proposals to save cost, reduce waste, and increase efficiencies within a Housing Associations business”. The result with NewGen Group was that sustainable savings would be achieved year on year and that key environmental targets are reached within a very short time frame.
CDP also print and mail all of the Groups Rent Mailings. “This was an added bonus to the Group as many Housing Associations experience problems when organising Rent Statements” explains Matt. “CDP provide this secure and confidential service to over 40 organisations, with some demanding daily mailings due to their marketplace. It has the added benefit in that the Group have a single source that coordinates all of the relevant print, data manipulation, and mailing activity under one roof”.
“Their overall comment was that CDP provided “3 Star Thinking” that could be utilised in other procurement areas” explains Matt. “This is encouraging, as we are using the same process with other Housing Associations to help them achieve positive results financially, environmentally, and via Tenant satisfaction and TSA audits”.
