Eco-friendly kitchens from Moores Furniture Group

18th May, 2011

‘ReAction’ is Moores Furniture Group’s newest range of eco-friendly kitchens, which reduces, re-uses, recycles and is responsibly sourced.

Moores’ ReAction kitchen has been reviewed by a BREEAM Code for Sustainable Homes Assessor and is a huge step forward in the industry, achieving 17 points on the Code for Sustainable Homes.

Designed for longevity and to reduce waste, the ReAction range uses innovative techniques to put into practice Moores Furniture Group’s commitment to sustainability.

Some of the ways in which the ReAction range is able to make a difference are:

  • Reduced thickness cabinets, which lower CO2 production during manufacture ensuring fewer trees are harvested

  • The use of ABS (Acrylonitrite-butadiene-styrene) edging that can be easily incinerated or recycled, as an environmentally friendly alternative to PVC

  • Shallow sinks and taps with flow restrictors for reduced water usage and a wide range of energy efficient appliances.

  • Laminate worktops sourced from a PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certified supplier to promote the sustainable management of forests

  • Reduced level of formaldehyde to protect the health of the end user

  • 100% recyclable zinc handles and low voltage LED lighting

In order to encourage the end user to continue to think green long after the kitchen is fitted, each ReAction kitchen is also fitted with a waste disposal unit and waste separation bin. And finally, to complete the offering, Moores also offers a waste management service tailored to each individual project to ensure that the most sustainable solution is applied every time.

Launched at Moores’ showcases, which toured the country in May, the reaction to ReAction has been very positive, from both the Social Housing market and also the Private Development market.

Moores Furniture Group's latest kitchen range offers true sustainability, available in a variety of door finishes and carcass colours for the latest in contemporary styling with sustainability built in.

Not only are Moores' kitchens environmentally conscious, but the company itself has also been using wood waste from their manufacturing processes (bio-mass) to heat its factory for over 20 years and recycled 147 tonnes of cardboard and paper during 2010.

Moores have also been accredited with BS EN ISO 14001:2004, the standard for environmental management across the globe.
