Stannah wins stairlift contract with Newcastle City Council.

7th February, 2011

Your Homes Newcastle has awarded PfH Materials supplier Stannah a new contract that could be worth up to £500,000 per year.

The four-year contract covers supply and installation of new lifts. In order to get the most value from its budgets YHN will be able to re-use stairlifts that are no longer required in their original location. Under the contract Stannah will remove unused lifts, refurbish them where necessary and then reinstall in a new location. This will significantly reduce costs and help meet demand more quickly.

Patrick Stannah commenting on the new contract said “We are thrilled that we have won the contract and look forward to playing a significant part in improving the quality of life for many people in the area. It is an important win for us and recognises the hard work that the team put in to develop a competitive and innovative tender, reflective of current market forces and client demands.”

Jen Vinton, Head of Investment Delivery for Your Homes Newcastle, said “We are delighted to be working with Stannah for another four years.  The new contract arrangements will help us reduce costs and meet the needs of our customers quicker, without compromising service quality.”

Stannah’s successful submission demonstrated an outstanding commitment to research, development and innovation, and established it as market leader in its field. Stannah was also able to provide evidence that its overall approach to best value and quality solutions to its users was exceptionally high.

For almost 150 years Stannah has remained a resolutely independent British business. By remaining true to its family values and taking care to look after its people and customers it has been quietly successful, expanding to have operating companies across the UK and all over the world.

As part of Stannah’s thorough after sales service, its customer service team is on hand 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, all working from the nationwide network of service branches that make Stannah a truly national business with the local touch.

Do you have full control over the design of marketing and communications material produced by local offices? Is it always on-brand and compliant with your promotional style? Do you use expensive external designers when items could be produced in-house?

One way of tackling this is to set up a templating system to enable staff to create their own material - such as flyers, leaflets, events calendars and posters – all to your specific standards. The many repetitive items required by Housing Associations which often only need minor alterations can reap particular benefits.

Design and print management company etrinsic has developed a unique ‘Made to Order’ system which provides base templates into which Housing Association staff can import approved images and data. The system is already being used highly successfully by Midland Heart. Totally-bespoke and branded in corporate colours, staff members access it via their intranet site. Once the artwork has been created and approved, the item is then on a turnaround time to agreed service levels.

As well as delivering convenience, speed and brand consistency, a templating system also enables stronger budget control. Not only can money be saved on design and artwork but also on printing costs. A full pricing matrix can be set up so that instant charges are available when the individual members are choosing what to do. These set prices, for example, enable short-runs to be printed without penalty. Indeed, the whole system allows for great flexibility whilst providing increased control over printed output.

"Since moving our print and mailing requirements to etrinsic, we have gained huge efficiencies in costs and time and have greater control over the print supply chain. From creative input, through production of our newsletter and rent statement mailings, to corporate and marketing print, which is stored and distributed by etrinsic, the company provides an excellent service. We also benefit from the specialist print knowledge of their account managers. Nothing is too much trouble for the etrinsic team". Sarah Clee, Head of Marketing, Midland Heart.
