The importance of pest control

Pest control is a problem that often gets ignored due to budgetary restraints and other concerns affecting facilities managers. Unfortunately, the penalties of infestations can be worse than not dealing with the problem head on which is why pest control must be moved up the to do list for facilities management.

Pest control is essential in the prevention of property contamination, the spreading of disease and damage to property which has been known to lead to fires and, in extreme circumstances, even death.  It is therefore imperative that pests are dealt with immediately and effectively to ensure the safety and welfare of social housing tenants and communities.

A licenced pet management company should be appointed in order to create a full pest management program which will include preventative treatments and ongoing monitoring with regular inspections. They will also put in place procedures in the event of an infestation.

Most common pests

  • Ants
  • Cockroaches
  • Bed Bugs
  • Flies
  • Moths
