Renewables on the rise

In 2015 the UK saw a 25% rise in renewable energy investments with more homes being powered by nature than ever before. Between 2008 and 2015, the percentage of electricity from renewables grew from around 5% to over 20%.

Following the recent extension of the Government Energy Company Obligation consultation (ECO) into 2022 it is more important than ever that we act now to secure our future by investing in smarter renewable technologies. By doing so new build and refurbished housing will be more energy efficient, thus reducing carbon emissions, saving the environment and benefitting your tenants through lower energy bills.

New and renewable energy systems may at first appear expensive, but ‘whole life cost’ assessments can often demonstrate their real value. Often making the decision to invest in the most suitable renewable technologies for your low carbon energy project can be daunting with the overwhelming choice of products and providers on the market.

“The are still some strong opportunities ahead with ECO which can support renewables and it is exciting that social housing can benefit. But more changes are to come and we strongly recommend that expert advice is taken now so that opportunities aren’t lost,” Says Siobonne Brewster from Cenergist.
